The start of a new semester is upon us... a note to the students of DJCC Ad Design
There are places I remember
All my life though some have changedSome forever not for betterSome have gone and some remainAll these places had their momentsWith lovers and friends I still can recallSome are dead and some are livingIn my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and loversThere is no one compares with youAnd these memories lose their meaningWhen I think of love as something newThough I know I'll never lose affectionFor people and things that went beforeI know I'll often stop and think about themIn my life I love you more
Though I know I'll never lose affectionFor people and things that went beforeI know I'll often stop and think about themIn my life I love you moreIn my life I love you more
-John Lennon and Paul McCartney
The beginning of a new semester reminds us of the cyclical nature of our lives, and how people weave in and out of our lives like a beautiful tapestry. We had some of our seniors graduate at mid term, we have many new members of the class who are at DJCC for the very first time, and we have our returning advanced students who are the people we rely on the most to propel our department forward. All of you are incredibly important people to me, and I could not enjoy my job as much as I do without you all.
At the beginning of a new semester, there is a lot to look forward to. We have a huge open house this Wednesday to inform potential new students about what opportunities they have at our school and at the new Career Center East which will be opening next fall. If you have any friends who are curious about the opportunities that our school district will be offering, I hope that you will encourage them to attend that event. The time is 5:30-7:00 and it is a great time to ask questions that you may have about any of the classes that are going to be offered at the new Career Center East and at Dale Jackson Career Center next year.
This is a time of optimism for me personally, and it is a wonderful time of year. We had a successful fall semester, but I anticipate an incredibly rewarding spring semester with motivated and talented students at the helm of their own destiny. College applications are being reviewed at this time, and many of you are awaiting news of acceptance into design programs and universities. With the anticipation of scholarships or acceptance to first choice programs, it is an exciting time to be your teacher. I look forward to great news and great accomplishments from you all.
