Isaac, Conner and a Super Flexible Dude.

A special request came in today from Isaac, Class of '09. He has entered one of his works in a design competition about school bullying. There is $1000 at stake and he would love to claim it! He actually did this poster several years ago in ad design for an anti-bullying assignment in our class, but it fit this design contest perfectly. He would like to ask the ad design students at DJCC and any alumni who may be watching the blog to vote and elevate his piece in the rankings. If you would click through and vote for him, it would be awesome!

Now, about the two items immediately above...Conner, one of our senior students, was kind enough to share this wonderful video with me. I thought it would be great to share it with you. It is completely computer animated and based on architecture. As you will see when you go to the video (on your home computer... those of you reading this at school may or may not be able to access it)one artist is responsible for all of it, including the sound design of the music. What talent! The artist's name is Alex Roman, and it illustrates architectural art across a photographic point of view where main subjects are already-built spaces. Sometimes abstract, sometimes surreal. Thanks Conner!

Also, we always have interesting factoids and things that we discover about each other in class, and we recently discovered the double jointedness of one of our classmates (photo above, taken today in the photo studio). We will refer to him as "Odyssey" (his chosen alias, as I try not to identify people by name when are discussing current student photos.) What flexibility!

Considering it was a Monday, today was way better than we had any right to expect it to be. The studio closed its doors tonight about 6:15, and the last two in the studio were David and Amber. David was working on his SkillsUSA ideas, and executing his artwork. Amber was busy helping to prepare for a meeting on Wednesday with an author. There is a lot of good work going on and I am always very happy to see students doing their best and working well in teams. I look forward to seeing the results of more of this work as the semester goes on. Thanks for staying late and working hard, Amber and David.

This Wednesday we have an Informational Open House for students who are interested in entering the program. From 5:30-7:00, we are looking for the future of DJCC and Career Center East. Tell your younger creative friends to stop by and check it out!

Tomorrow is another day, and I will be featuring several students a week on the blog. See the work developing and hear the silly and absurd stories from our day in the studio. We love that place.
