One of the best classes of seniors ever!

I continue to be extremely proud of this year's group of seniors. It seems that every day, I hear of a fantastic new accomplishment. (I have also received word about one of last year's seniors that makes me proud and happy.) Let me start with college news...

We have had recent college and design school acceptances that are completely exciting.

For example:
the list of schools that have been accepting our seniors reads like a list of the best design schools in the United States. So far, I am aware that we have had students accepted to Ringling College of Art and Design http://www.ringling.edu/ (Zach Nienhuser and Kade O'Casey into the illustration department) Minneapolis College of Art and Design http://mcad.edu/ (Sophie and Miekala Cangelosi) Maine College of Art http://www.meca.edu/ (Sophie Cangelosi, illustration and Miekala Cangelosi, graphic design)  Kansas City Art Institute (Sidney Higgins into the illustration department) http://www.kcai.edu/ California Institute of the Arts (Miekala Cangelosi into the Graphic Design department) http://calarts.edu/ Maryland Institute College of Art (Erin Hotchkiss into graphic design, Kade O'Casey into illustration and Miekala Cangelosi into graphic design) http://www.mica.edu/ School of Visual Arts in NYC (Sophie Cangelosi into illustration) http://sva.edu/ Savannah College of Art and Design (Kade O'Casey into illustration and KK Lalani into advertising) http://www.scad.edu/ and Massachusetts College of Art and Design (Sophie Cangelosi into the illustration department) http://www.massart.edu

Additionally, we find that we have had many students accepted to the University of North Texas that are hopefuls for the Communication Design department http://art.unt.edu/communication-design.html
Texas Christian University http://www.art.tcu.edu/graphic_design.html and the University of Texas at Arlington http://www.uta.edu/art/index.php/undergrad/visual_communication/ as well as pending acceptances from schools like Texas State University http://www.finearts.txstate.edu/Art/academics/undergrad/ugrad-comdes.html and one very exciting and huge acceptance from an Ivy League school that I won't discuss until there is something to discuss. (Let's just say that if it happens, I will definitely let you all know first!)

I am also elated about the recognition that our seniors are receiving with work that was created in our class. A digital painting was recently entered into the VASE competition and will be sent on to the state level of competition. This is from Vanessa White, one of our artists that will be headed to UNT or to SCAD. We had three students who won Gold Key, Silver Key or Honorable Mentions from the Scholastic Art Competition held this year. These are regional awards. The Gold Key winners are eligible for National recognition this semester. The Gold Key Winners are Sophie Cangelosi (2 Gold Keys) and Kade O'Casey (1 Gold Key), Silver Keys went to Vanessa White and and Kade O'Casey (1 each), and Honorable Mentions went to Miekala Cangelosi and to Sophie Cangelosi. What a showing for our students! I could not be prouder.

My previous post was about disappointments. As you can plainly see, these students provide no reason for disappointment and there are many other accomplishments to be listed soon. I will tally the total dollar amount of scholarships that these students are to receive and it will prove that there are lots of good things going on "up here in the loft". I am excited beyond belief for the future of this senior class.
